Joy Witzke – Final Reflection

Whether people realize it or not, fairy tales are constantly around us. They are not just words on paper or silly children stories but rather breathing and living documents and ideas that invite everyone of all ages into a world of imagination. Fairy tales allow people to understand the world around them as they reveal important message and themes that are timeless. It surpised me how deep fairy tales really are and how much of an impact they have on everyone’s lives. This course truly opened my eyes from viewing them as just a story to something worth so much more. I was very interested in the discussions regarding how fairy tales affect childhood development and the psychology behind it. I wish we had more time to further analyze more stories in the textbook as well as look into more unknown fairy tales. Overall, this course was truly an eye opener and expanded my understandings of the world around me through fairy tales.
