When Pigs Fly by Joy and Jadyn

Often in life we wish for what we can not be, longing for something we can only see, but not touch. This is a story about when pigs finally fly.

Looking up, Pigs could see the long powerful wings of the dragons. If it were not for the dragons, society would cease to exist. The snow that fell constantly made it difficult for anyone to move around, let alone leave their home. The weather was harsh and freezing, but, with the dragons, life was possible. Every morning they flew miles and miles and miles to heat and connect homes. Oh how Pigs wished to be one of them instead of a boring old piggy builder. To have such importance and be well respected, that was the dream. It was that morning, while admiring the dragons, that he decided he would become a dragon.

Being born into a family of builders, Pigs understood mechanics well. In fact, his ancestors built the very first straw, wood, and brick houses! On the first day Pigs went to build a pair of wings! Pigs sawed and sawed and sawed all day and all night. When he was finally finished, he went to test it out but the poor little piggy fell on his face!

On the second day, Pigs decided to make a potion that would allow him to breathe fire, just as the mighty dragons do to warm up homes and make paths. Pigs stirred and stirred and stirred all day and all night. When he was finally finished, he went to test it out but the poor little piggy only burped!

On the third day, Pigs decided to make a wish in the wishing well. He wished and wished and wished and wished to be a dragon with all his little piggy might. When he was finally finished, he went to see if he had wings or a fiery berath, but the poor little piggy was just a poor little piggy. Head hanging down, the Piggy had given up hope. That is, until a fairy appeared.

“Poor little piggy do not be sad, for I am here to make you glad! I see your might, to gain flight! And I see your desire to gain fire! Little piggy, little piggy with a little bling and a little ding, look here Pigs, you now have wings!”

Pigs finally took flight! Looking down, Pigs could see the entire town. He flew so high and high he touched the sky. From that day on, he flew miles and miles and miles to help the dragons heat and connect homes. Pigs finally could fly.
