Figurine Fairy tale Project

Isabel Weiss & Connor Scott

One day, a penguin, who was bored of where he lived, and his repetitive life decided to leave the arctic world and travel across the waters in his boat. After long weeks of traveling, he came across a forest. The forest looked very welcoming, and warm. As he exits his boat, he steps foot onto the land and begins to enter the forest. The forest was beautiful. Full of the greenest trees, and most amazing rays of light. As he continued on his journey, he came across a squirrel and a doe. He greets them kindly, and in return they do the same. They question why he is in the forest, and he explains to them how he was looking for a new start. For something more exciting. They give him a warm welcome and follow that with a great warning. They warn him that no matter what he does, he must not enter the large dark rock. The penguin thanks them for the warning, and continues on his way. Soon enough he comes across the great rock. It was magnificent in size, and was more intriguing than he could have imagined. He remembered what the squirrel and doe had told him, but his curiosity took over. He looked behind him to make sure nobody was following, and slid into the tunnel of the rock. When he came to the center of the rock he was amazed to find a cave full of treasure. He began picking things up and exploring all the cave had to offer. All was well until he heard a loud roar. He looked over his shoulder, and to his surprise a huge dragon stood behind him, he was too startled to speak. He began running as fast as he could. He ran and ran and ran until he saw the end of the forest and spotted his boat. He followed the shells back to the arctic and he was so happy to return. He realized that where he lived wasn’t so bad, and that it’s important to be grateful for what you have.

A young sailor was lost out at sea, in the dark of night. Clouds covered all the stars in the night, the moon dipped in and out. The currents were rough and slowly growing dangerous. His compass spun out, not knowing where the shore was. That’s when he saw it.
A faint glow in the distance. It drew closer and closer. It was a deer-like creature with bright gold fur and big ears. It galloped across the waves with grace eyeing the sailor and the boat curiously. Its bright blue eyes locked with the sailor and then it turned around, and started to skip away.
Not knowing what else to do, the sailor followed this mysterious creature hoping it could guide him somewhere out of the dangerous waters. And that it did. In the distance a lighthouse soon approached. The light on top of it was faint. Its exterior appears abandoned with vines wrapping around it to the very tip of it. Wood splintered out and he could hear hints of creaks from the wind blowing through it.
The creature hopped on to shore and disappeared into the woods. The sailor silently thanked it and docked his boat near the shore. Hopping down into the sand he examined his surroundings.
There seemed to be no other shelter on the island so he made his way to the lighthouse. Walking up to the pier he rested on he was met with a large wooden door. Banging his side into it he managed to get it open. Looking up he was met with a spiraling staircase.
He began his climb up the steps. Round and round and round and round. While ascending he heard some chitters. But he was never able to place where the sound was coming from. So he continued. Then he heard it again, only closer. The sailor stopped this time and turned around and was met with another odd looking creature.
It was a monkey-like creature. It had a long tail, with two sets of ears. One set was purple and the other was green. The fur was a mix of greens, blues, and hints of purpose. The creature’s bright green eyes stared up at the sailor curious on who he was. With a little chirp he climbed up on to the sailor, the sailor stiffened instinctively.
The creature seemed nice enough so he continued his climb to the top. Finally making it, he was able to get a better view of the land. The two mystical creatures he encountered weren’t the only inhabitants of the bizarre island. The sailor saw a tiny bunny-like creature with glowing fluff, all different colors hopping around. On the rocks he saw reptilian creatures, some resembling lizards, others frogs. Finally he looked back out at the water below.
That’s when he saw a woman resting on the sharp rocks below the lighthouse. Waves crash against her roughly. She had long bright blue that shimmered in the moon’s limelight. She locked eyes with the sailor beckoning him down below. Thinking she needed assistance he ran down the stairs with the monkey creature still on top of him. Running out of the lighthouse he slowly made his way down towards the water. He set the creature down and slowly stepped into the frigid water.
He begins to swim towards the woman, pushing his way through the strong current. His arms started to ache but he finally managed to make it to the rocks unharmed and that’s when he saw it. The woman didn’t have legs, but a tail! She was no damsel in distress rather she was just relaxing near the shore.
The sailor’s mouth gaped at the sight and the mermaid simply smiled in response.
“Is there something I can help you with, human?” She asked him, her voice sultry.
The sailor stutters out, “W-well, I would like to be able to find my way home if that’s possible?”
The mermaid nods and says that she can help him only if he can give her something in return. The sailor instantly agrees and takes her back to his boat as he climbs on to the ladders on its side, dripping wet. One after another he shows her items he had on board. The sailor showed her gold, a mirror, and his treasured compass. But she stops him at an item he was pushing to the side. A simple pitcher with a ribbon wrapped around it with a rose.
The sailor was confused that she wanted the item but didn’t hesitate to hand it over. The mermaid was filled with joy and gave him a seashell in return. He takes it, unsure of what it was for. Before he could ask, the mermaid had already disappeared into the water.
He goes to the helm of his ship and looks over the seashell. Eventually flipping it over, the sailor finally saw it. A map. Winding the anchor back up he was ready to take course until he heard the familiar chitter. The monkey creature was back, sitting on top of the sail. It seemed he found a new companion on his journey. With a small smile he turned the wheel and finally started to head home.

Once upon a time, there was a young fox who loved his gold coin. His mother told him he could never lose it or he would have bad luck forever.
One day, he was playing with his coin on Dragon’s Dock, when he lost hold of it and dropped it into the ocean. He immediately dove in to retrieve his special coin. Though he found it, the Water Dragon came out and cursed the Fox with the worst luck for 100 years for entering his territory.
The fox laid in the water for days, cold and afraid, terrified he would never see his Mom again. Holding to his coin, he said “I wish to leave these waters and see my Mom again”. As if his wishes were heard, the Fire Dragon emerged to help him.
The Fire Dragon told the Fox, “the Water Dragon guards his heart with two shells as heavy as irons. I will distract him while you remove the shells and retrieve his heart, then, the curse will be broken and you can return to your mother.”
As they approached, the Fire Dragon distracted the Water Dragon by using his powers. While the Fox, with great strength, removed the shells and retrieved the heart. As soon as he touched the heart, the Water Dragon crumpled to dust.
The Fox, with gratitude, gave the heart to the Fire Dragon. This made him the new ruler of Dragon’s Dock. The waters were finally at peace because the evil was vanquished.
When the Fox emerged from the waters, he found 1000 gold coins waiting for him. He brought them home and he and his Mom shared the wealth for the rest of their days.

    The End.

Figurine Fairytale by Julia and Sarah

Once upon a time, many years ago, the world existed in a state of peace and tranquility. Its creatures were happy, and they thrived knowing that their companions were living in enjoyment with their own lives as well. However, this life no longer existed for those who resided here. During a time of disarray in the birds’ leadership, the stone was stolen from them, and the land was fertile with discord. Species began keeping to themselves and retreating into their own realms. Winters grew colder, springs grew quicker, and darkness lasted longer than the hours of light. With the stone stolen, landed in the wrong leadership of the dragons, life became a state of constant misery and disharmony for the creatures. The dragons locked the stone in their lair, and took with it the freedom which was given to the creatures in the birds’ care.
It went on like this for so long, that the creatures forgot what it was like to feel genuine happiness and love. There were times when they did feel these things, but the feelings were only temporary, soon replaced with the grief and solitude they carried with them daily.
A young deer named Dixie was determined to bring the peace back. So one day, she ventured out of her home to visit the birds. One of them, a little green bird, was a little rude to her. He was unhappy at his miserable life and the curse that the dragons had placed on the birds, who died more and more without the presence of the stone. She convinced him that the land could prosper again, if they were the ones to take action on it. The little green bird considered this, and agreed because he knew all the steps to defeat the dragons, he had just never tried because he knew it was a death sentence.
Together, Dixie and the little green bird went to the lake where the fish lived. On the bottom, there was a clamshell with a key to the dragons’ lair, but the fish refused to give it to them because they wanted something in return. The little green bird promised that if they gave up the clamshell, then they could have their nightly music festival with the bugs back. They knew this was impossible because the bugs no longer lived near the lake, and so they did not give up the clamshell. Finally, the deer and the bird decided that if the fish could open the shell, they could keep it, and if they could not, they must give it up. The fish agreed, and when their attempts failed, they brought it to the water’s edge, and the little green bird opened it easily. This caused the fish to have hope that the dragons could come out of power one day, and that they could have their night festival back after all.
With the key secured, Dixie and the little green bird made their way up the mountain where the dragons lived, and opened their cave. The sunlight blinded the dragons, who could only see in the dark, and Dixie slipped inside and retrieved the stone. They ran back to the home of the birds as fast as possible, but it was not fast enough to keep the night away. The little green bird had to bring the stone up into the clouds all by himself, with the dragons coming after him. They got so close at one point, that he could feel their breath on his tail feathers. On the ground Dixie and the songbirds waited in anxiety.. They waited all night, and even as the sun rose, the little green bird did not return, and no dragons flew back the direction they’d come from.
The sky then flashed a warm yellow glow, and Dixie squinted to see something falling from the sky. In an instant, her heart dropped as her eyes followed the falling object. Dust too began to fall like snow, turning the sky gray. Dixie felt herself lose the one thing that she’d tried so hard to give to everyone else. She bowed her head, and knew that with this, there was nothing left for her to do here, and so she started walking towards her home in the brush. She did not look up until the sun was blinding her so strongly even without her head raised toward the sky. From the bright light appeared the little green bird, and the dust that had fallen had been the dragons. The little green bird and Dixie had returned the stone to its rightful owners, and the animals lived in peace and harmony for the remainder of their years.
